Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 28, 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
The Scattered Saver (the "Service") is operated by Danon Brown, an individual trading as "The Scattered Saver" ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, installing the extension, or subscribing to Plus, you ("you", "User") agree to these Terms.
2. The Service
The Scattered Saver is a Chrome extension and accompanying website that helps you track budgets, recurring subscriptions, and impulse spending. The Free tier runs locally in your browser. The Plus tier adds cross-device sync, automatic subscription detection, unlimited categories, and related premium features.
3. Acceptance & eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use the Service. By continuing to use the Service you confirm you have the authority to agree to these Terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, fraud, or to send spam.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Probe, scan, scrape, or interfere with the Service's security or infrastructure.
- Upload malware or attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or resell the Service.
- Circumvent technical limits of the Free tier (e.g., the 3-category cap).
5. Account & credentials
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
6. Intellectual property
We retain all rights in the Service, including its software, branding, and documentation. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in line with these Terms and your active plan. Anything you create with the Service (your categories, budget data, etc.) remains yours.
7. Generative & detection features
Subscription auto-detection and impulse-check features make best-effort guesses based on the pages you visit. They may be inaccurate or miss things. You're responsible for reviewing and confirming any detected items before treating them as authoritative.
8. Plus subscription, payment & taxes
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. By purchasing Plus, you also agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms, which govern payment, billing, currency, sales tax/VAT, invoices, and chargebacks.
Plus is offered monthly or yearly and renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your Account page; access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
9. Refunds
See our Refund Policy for our 30-day money-back guarantee and how to request a refund through Paddle.
10. Service availability
We work hard to keep the Service available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. We may update, change, or temporarily suspend features to maintain or improve the Service.
11. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay, create a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly violate our acceptable use rules. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling Plus.
On termination you may export your data for a reasonable window before we delete it from our servers (Free-tier local data stays on your device until you remove the extension).
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Service is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or incidental damages, including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law forbids such limits.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Danon Brown resides, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home country.
