Who we are

The Scattered Saver is operated by Danon Brown, an individual trading as "The Scattered Saver" ("we", "us"). We act as the data controller for personal data described in this notice.

What we collect and why

  • Account info (email, optional display name) — to create your account, sign you in, and provide cross-device sync. Legal basis: contract performance.
  • Your budget data (categories, tracked subscriptions, payday allocations) — to provide the Service. Stored locally on Free; synced to our servers on Plus. Legal basis: contract performance.
  • Usage analytics (e.g., which buttons you click, anonymous page views) — to understand and improve the Service. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Device & log data (IP address, user agent, referrer) — for security, fraud prevention, and basic diagnostics. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Support messages — to respond to your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

We do not collect bank account credentials, transactions, or email contents. We do not buy or sell your personal data.

Who we share data with

  • Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record for Plus purchases. Paddle handles payment, billing, sales tax/VAT, invoicing, refunds, and chargebacks. Paddle collects billing details (name, billing address, payment method) directly from you at checkout. See Paddle's privacy notice.
  • Service providers (subprocessors) — hosting, database, error monitoring, and analytics tooling that operate on our behalf under written agreements.
  • Authorities — only where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights.

International transfers

Our infrastructure providers may process data in the United States or other countries. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

How long we keep data

We keep account and synced budget data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we need to keep it longer for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons. Local-only data on Free disappears when you uninstall the extension or clear browser storage.

Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, row- level access controls, least-privilege admin access — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. UK/EEA users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. To exercise any right, sign in and use the controls on your Account page (export, delete) — we action requests within 30 days.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We don't use advertising cookies. Paddle's checkout sets its own cookies during payment.

Changes to this notice

We'll update this page if our practices change and revise the "last updated" date above. For material changes we'll email registered users.

How do I export my data?
Sign in and use the export control on your Account page. You'll get a file with your categories, budgets, and subscriptions.
How do I delete my account and data?
Use the delete account control on your Account page. This wipes your profile, budgets, and subscription history. Active Plus subscriptions are cancelled automatically.
How do I change my email or password?
Both can be updated from your Account page.
Who handles my payment information?
Paddle, our payment processor. We never see or store your card details. Manage invoices and receipts at paddle.net.
